THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EFFECTIVE SENTENCE MASTERY AND THE ABILITY TO WRITE SCIENTIFIC WORK FOR CLASS XI STUDENTS AT SMK NEGERI 6 PADANG
Abstract
This research is motivated by the following things. First, there is a lack of effective sentence mastery on the ability to write scientific papers for class XI students of SMK Negeri 6 Padang. The purpose of this research is as follows. First, it describes the effective sentence mastery of class XI students of SMK Negeri 6 Padang. Second, it describes the ability to write scientific papers for class XI students of SMK Negeri 6 Padang. Third, to describe the relationship between effective sentence mastery and the ability to write scientific papers for class XI students of SMK Negeri 6 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research using correlational methods. The population in this study were students of class XI at SMK Negeri 6 Padang. The sample in this research is class XI students. Clothing 4. The instruments used in this study were objective tests and performance tests. The research data is in the form of students' effective sentence mastery results and scores of students' scientific writing ability test scores. Based on the results of the study, three things were concluded as follows. First, students' effective sentence mastery obtained an average of 81.18 in the range of 76-85% with good qualifications (B). Second, the ability to write scientific papers for class XI students of SMK Negeri 6 Padang obtained an average score of 49.09 in the range of 46-55% with almost sufficient qualifications (HC). Third, there is a significant relationship between effective sentence mastery and the ability to write scientific papers for class XI students of SMK Negeri 6 Padang. This shows that sentence mastery effectively influences students in writing scientific papers. This can be seen from the test results which prove that tcount > ttable, namely 6.56 > 1.70.
